New consoles, Dragon Age, and World of Warcraft — Xbox Games Showcase 2024

On the evening of June 9th, one of the most significant summer gaming presentations took place — the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. It featured the updated Xbox Series X|S consoles and announcements of new gaming projects, including the highly anticipated sequels to Diablo IV, Fallout 76, Dragon Age, Life is Strange, DOOM, World of Warcraft, and Assassin’s Creed.

Of course, there also was a new gameplay trailer for “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl”

Three new Xbox Series X|S consoles will be released this autumn and winter

A total of three updated consoles were announced:

• Хbox Series X Digital Edition — white, no disc drive.
• Xbox Series X Galaxy Black Special Edition — with 2 TB of storage and a “starry” design.
• Xbox Series S Robot White — with 1 TB of storage.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

This is already the 21st part of the Call of Duty series and the seventh part of the Black Ops sub-series. The events will unfold in the 1990s after the collapse of the USSR. The release is scheduled for October 25, 2024.

DOOM: The Dark Ages

The Dark Ages is part of the Doom series and a prequel to 2016’s Doom and 2018’s Doom Eternal. The release of the game is scheduled for 2025.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

This autumn, after a ten-year break, the fourth part of the Dragon Age series will be released. The game will be available for PC and Xbox.

Fallout 76: Skyline Valley

Already on June 12, an addition to Fallout 76 will be released. Skyline Valley will offer a new region, weapons and rewards. In addition, the developers promised that next year we will be able to play as Gul, a character from the Amazon series.

World of Warcraft: The War Within

On August 26, the tenth addition to World of Warcraft will be released. The War Within will introduce to the game world plenty of new features: a new maximum level of 80, a new allied race of earth dwarves, new locations, new dungeons and raids, a new system of heroic talents and dynamic flights in new locations.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater

A remake of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater is also being prepared. The original game was released in 2004. Details have not yet been disclosed.

Perfect Dark

Another great return is the reboot of the Perfect Dark franchise.

Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred

A new addition to Diablo IV will be released on October 8. It will tell more about Neyrell.

Fable

The new part of Fable fantasy Fable will be released in 2025. Microsoft has not yet announced other details.

Mixtape

The new game from Annapurna Interactive (Stray, Cocoon, Open Roads) will be released in 2025.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure

On October 29 this year, a new part of the Life is Strange series will be released. In particular, it will feature the heroine of the first original game, Max Cofield.

Atomfall

A new post-apocalyptic game about survival after a nuclear disaster will be released in 2025.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows received a new gameplay trailer and will be released on November 15.
