Chargers for electric cars to be installed across all Ukrainian parking lots

The documentation that sets the guidelines for development in Ukraine has been amended: now 5% of parking spaces must be equipped with chargers for electric cars with plans to expand this figure to 100% by 2030, says the official website of the Ministry for Regional Development, Construction and Housing of Ukraine (Minregion).

The corresponding amendments are stipulated in the State Building Code. These are mandatory regulations that govern the design and reconstruction processes of new and existing buildings, blocks, and housing complexes. The changes pertaining to electric cars come into force on July 1, 2019.

“In the span of the next 5-10 years, the global community will entirely switch to electric cars. This will not happen at once, we need to begin preparing now. Therefore, the updated State Building Code mandates that a minimum of 5% of parking spaces across all parking lots that are currently designed now must be equipped with chargers,” said Lev Partskhaladze, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing of Ukraine.
