Profile: Butterfly Ventures — Finnish VC Fund

AIN.TECH conducted a series of interviews with the most active Finnish VC funds. It is aimed to give the startups full information about the ecosystem of the country, as well as to make it easier for them to find the appropriate fund for further cooperation.

This time we prepared a short article about Butterfly Ventures VC fund. 

Butterfly Ventures is the leading seed stage focused VC in the Nordics.

When the fund was launched? 

Butterfly Ventures was founded in 2012, but our current fund was launched in 2016.

What is your investment focus?

Currently we invest in deep tech, hardware, and hardware interfacing software in pre-seed and seed stages.

What is the average investment amount?

€300K

How many deals does the fund make per year?

10 (on average)

Does the fund invest only in Finnish startups or in foreign projects too?

We invest in the Nordics and Baltics.

What does the fund offer except the investment?

We have a co-operative approach; we like to interface with founders directly and work as a team. Founders have the full support of all our partners whose skillsets include i.e. strong legal, financial, and entrepreneurial expertise.
