Netflix unveils the trailer for “The Last Mercenary” starring Van Damme, filmed in Kyiv

During Netflix’s Geeked Week, the company unveiled the trailer for the movie ‘The Last Mercenary,’ the filming of which took place in Kyiv.

As Twitter users noticed, the trailer features shots of Elektrykiv and Konstiantynivska streets, Pivdennyi (“Southern”) Bridge, and Kyiv’s district Lypky.


What’s movie about

In the action movie, Van Damme starred as a former secret service agent who must urgently return to France after 25 years of “retirement” when his estranged son is falsely accused of arms and drug trafficking by the government.

The film was directed by David Charhon and starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, Alban Ivanov, and Assa Sylla. The Last Mercenary will be released on Netflix this July 30.

The filming took place in Kyiv in August-September 2020, as well as in Paris. As reported by Bykvu, in Ukraine, the international film company Apple Tree and the production company Star Media were responsible for the production.
