Finnish startup Return Entertainment raises €5.3M for cloud-native gaming

Return Entertainment, a Finland-based gaming startup, has raised a €5.3 million round. The company develops cloud technology to transform the gaming industry, EU-Startups reports.

  • The company was founded in 2019 by seven industry veterans. Among them are CEO Antti Sartanen, CTO Tuomas Paavola (Immersal co-founder), and Lead Designer Toni Hollming (GameWorks co-founder).
  • Return Entertainment is working on two initial games that are designed for the cloud. Their gameplay will be fully cross-playable between browsers on mobile, tablet, and PC.
  • BITKRAFT Ventures led the round. It is a global investment platform for gaming, esports, and interactive media. Sisu Game Ventures, Vgames, 1Up Fund, and SMOK Ventures participated in the investment.
  • The fresh funding will help Return Entertainment develop console-quality games with integrated cross-play in a cloud-based environment.
