Austrian-founded Round2 Capital completes first close of €100M fund for software startups

Austrian VC Round2 Capital, which provides growth capital for European software and technology companies, has announced the first close of its second €100 million fund with €62 million. The investors include various family offices and institutional investors from Europe, as well as the US.

  • Founded in 2017 by Christian Czernich and Jan Hillered, Round2 Capital Partners is a growth capital investment firm that invests in small and medium-sized businesses through non-dilutive revenue-based loans, with a predominant focus on hardware and software fields. 
  • The firm is based in Vienna, Berlin and Stockholm, and has over 25 portfolio companies in eight European markets. The firm’s investment ticket ranges from €5-€25 million. 
  • The new €100 million fund focuses on European growth companies offering B2B software critical to business success. The second fund will target on 40 small- and mid-cap software companies all over Europe, especially on the DACH and Nordic markets.
  • The anchor investor is the European Investment Fund, which will be represented on the fund’s governance board. The new fund will be managed by CEO Christian Czernich, co-founder Jan Hillered, an EIC accelerator jury member Isabella Hermann-Schon, and Stefan Nagel, owner of LTV.
