Polish game studio Rebel Wolves secures an investment from NetEasy Games

Launched in early February, Warsaw-based game development studio Rebel Wolves has secured a strategic investment from one of the world’s leading developers of mobile and PC games NetEase Games. The companies don’t disclose an investment amount. It is known that the deal includes a minority stake in the game developer, Games Industry.biz informs.

  • Rebel Wolves was co-founded by The Witcher 3’s game and art directors, industry veterans of the Polish AAA games community. One of them is former CD Projekt RED executive Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who currently serves as CEO at the company.
  • The whole founding team has a great experience in building acclaimed and best-selling RPG games, including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, Thronebreaker, and Shadow Warrior 2.

“Funding provided by NetEase was the last missing piece needed to go full throttle. With resources available to build a world-class AAA game, we can now focus on what matters most: development,”

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz says.
  • Following its investment, NetEase has become a minority shareholder in Rebel Wolves. The studio will remain operationally independent and retains full creative control and ownership of their new IP under development.
  • The fresh funding will allow the Rebel Wolves to develop its debut game, a dark fantasy RPG with a focus on storytelling and accommodating the players’ choices, which is yet to be announced.
