Austrian pettech startup HelloBello raises €2M in a seed round

The Vienna-based pettech startup HelloBello that offers freshly cooked food for dogs has raised €2 million in a seed round. The investment was led by Digitalis Ventures, Hardlymountain Capital, Peak Pride Management GmbH, and angel investors.

  • Founded in 2019 by Patrick Etz, Stephan Freh, and Wolfgang Maurer HelloBello offers freshly cooked and cooled delivered human-grade food for dogs. HelloBello is working with a specialized veterinarian and can derive each dog’s exact nutritional needs based on a proprietary algorithm. The recipes are made of natural sources like millet and seaweed, instead of heavy use of supplements, which makes it easier for the dog to absorb and get true nutritional benefits.
  • The company focuses on the German-speaking markets and has already shipped over 500,000 meals.
  • The fresh round was led by the New York-based VC fund Digitalis Ventures that invests in solutions to complex problems in human and animal health, Austrian Hardlymountain Capital venture capital firm that supports ambitious teams with scalable companies, and Vienna-based Peak Pride Management GmbH, a multifamily office investing in proptech, digital health and sustainability.
  • HelloBello will use the fresh investment to develop the fresh dog food segment in Germany and Austria.
