Polish laser manufacturer Fluence secures €1M from JR Holding

Warsaw-based startup Fluence has secured €1 million from JR Holding in exchange for 7.07% of its shares. The company is a manufacturer of specialized high-precision femtosecond lasers used in innovative industries, MamStartup reports.

  • Founded in 2016 by Polish laser physicists, Fluence is a deeptech company that develops and manufactures femtosecond lasers based on all-fiber optic technology. These lasers can be used to produce new generation consumer electronics, polymers, semiconductors, and LEDs. The technology can also provide help in biophotonics and medicine, dealing with eye surgeries and other treatments.
  • In 2019, Fluence raised its first seed round led by VIGO Ventures. The parties did not disclose the amount of funding. Currently, the company is in a phase of dynamic growth and on a way of global commercialization. Already, it sells its own products on five continents.

“We have a wide range of products that we offer to use in industries from manufacturing, through biophotonics, to science and medicine. We are glad that we managed to close the investment round. During it we hope to raise over €2 million with the funds from JRH,”

Dr. Michał Nejbauer, co-founder and President of Fluence, comments.
  • JR Holding is the main backer for the startup. It is a Krakow-based joint-stock company investing across the CEE region. It invests in the key future sectors, such as renewable energy, gaming, lifestyle, AI, new media, and biotech. Recently, the firm supported other Polish startups Mindento, Green Lanes, and Flexee.
  • The fresh funds will allow Fluence to quickly increase production and sales in the near future. It will help with structuring and scaling production, as well as expanding the team. The company is currently looking for a Business Development Manager.
