Hungarian e-commerce startup Prefixbox raises €2M in a Series A Funding

Budapest-based Prefixbox has raised a €2 million to revolutionize e-commerce with conversational AI. The round was led by local Euroventures. 

  • Prefixbox was founded in 2014 by Istvan Simon. The startup focuses on e-commerce, messaging, product search, retail technology, SaaS, search engine, and semantic search. Using its fully managed search, recommend, and insights solutions, Prefixbox aims to improve the shopping experience for increased conversion rate and revenue.
  • Since launching, the team of Prefixbox has grown from 2 to 41 people. The company claims it has almost 650 million API requests per month on its website. The fresh funding round follows five prior rounds, bringing Prefixbox’s total funding amount to $4.82 million. 
  • Euroventures, Budapest-based leading independent private equity and venture capital firm, led this round. Currently, the firm manages two funds (Euroventures IV and Euroventures V Coop) and targets innovative, growing companies.
  • Among its latest investments is €10 million round for Hungarian-founded software startup Antavo. 
  • The fresh funds will be used to boost the company’s tech stack and expand its footprint in the global retail market.
