Estonian startup Ecobase raises €2.5M in a Seed round

Ecobase, an Estonian reforestation startup, has raised €2.5 million in a seed funding round. With the help of the additional financing, the startup’s pan-European afforestation/reforestation (ARR) program will grow, Startup Rise reports.

  • Founded in early 2021, Ecobase had the the objective of allowing European landowners to access carbon financing. The company offers European landowners a platform and support network, encouraging ARR activities in degraded/abandoned regions and facilitating the transition to more sustainable forestry practices.

“Ecobase encourages the creation of native, mixed forests by providing the landowner with an alternative income which does not rely on timber value. We aim to drive significant positive environmental change while also providing economic incentives for landowners,”

Jaan Sepping, the founder and CEO of Ecobase, comments.
  • The investment was led by Combiwood Grupp, one of Estonia’s largest vertically integrated groups of woodworking companies.
  • Using the funds, Ecobase will be able to develop new products and extend its platform capabilities in shorter terms.
