Ukrainian Wikipedia ranks 14th in the world by the number of articles

In 2023, 84,431 new articles appeared in the Ukrainian Wikipedia compared to 88,809 in 2022 (-4.9%), according to Wikimedia Ukraine. On average, 231 articles were created every day, and the total number of articles at the end of the year exceeded 1.3 million. Interestingly, Ukraine is currently placed 14th in the world by the number of articles.

Editors and activity

• During the year, 3.419 million edits were made, which is 6.8% less than in 2022.
• 9,367 edits were made every day, or 1 edit every 9.2 seconds.
• 3,500 active editors contribute to the development of Wikipedia every month.
• At the end of the year, 51 editors have administrator status.
• 567 moderators check edits and articles.

The numbers

• 1.188 million page views were recorded in 2023, which is 12% more than in 2022.
• 80% of views were made from the territory of Ukraine.
• 16.5 million unique devices use Ukrainian Wikipedia every month.
• The most popular topics of articles: Ukrainian language, history of Ukraine, geography of Ukraine, culture of Ukraine.
• Peak attendance is in March and May, which coincides with the exam period.
