Lithuanian unicorn Vinted acquires Trendsales, a Danish second-hand marketplace

Vilnius-based C2C marketplace for second-hand goods Vinted has acquired the Danish marketplace Trendsales to expand its presence in the Nordic region. The deal amount is undisclosed.

  • Trendsales was co-founded in 2013 by Mads Aarøe Mathiesen, Martin Lykke Suhr, Nicklas Skov Pape, and Rasmus Andersen. It is Denmark’s largest second-hand marketplace for fashion and lifestyle items, which has played a significant role in increasing Danes’ second-hand consumption over the past years.
  • With the current deal, Vinted continues buying out its European competitors. In October 2023, the unicorn acquired Homerr, a Dutch delivery scaleup, via its subsidiary Vinted Go.

The Danish appetite for second-hand clothing continues to grow, and Trendsales has played a significant role in that development. With impressive growth and a compelling vision, Trendsales is a company that has established a strong second-hand community in Denmark that we are excited to become part of. We look forward to a shared future in which we’ll continue our journey to make second-hand first choice in Denmark and beyond,

Adam Jay, CEO of Vinted, says.

Joining forces with Vinted will strengthen Trensales’ presence in the Nordic region and gives new opportunities to benefit Danish consumers. The acquisition follows Vinted’s launches in Sweden, Finland and Denmark in September 2023.
