Romanian foodtech bonapp.eco raises €600k in a pre-seed extension round

Romania-based foodtech anti food waste startup bonapp.eco has raised €600,000 in a pre-seed extension funding round. The investment came through SeedBlink, the co-investment platform for European tech startups, from multiple business angels, start-up.ro reports.

  • Launched in November 2021 by serial entrepreneur Grégoire Vigroux and Luka Zivkovic, bonapp.eco’s mobile app addresses the problems of food waste. The platform connects users with local food retailers, allowing to sell and purchase food that is approaching its expiration date, at a discount of 50% to 80%.

  • Since the launch, according to the company, its mobile app has been downloaded 100,000 times. Nearly 750 retailers, including Starbucks, Penny, and Cora, have joined bonapp.eco’s network in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. In March, the company reported a revenue of €40,000, a rise of over 50% against February.

“Hailing from Romania is bonapp.eco, a fast-growing food tech startup with founders developing a better mechanism for distributing excess food. With a validated market model and a strong team with impressive experience in entrepreneurship, they are now scaling their business, after a successful round on SeedBlink,”

Andrei Dudoiu, Founder and Managing Partner of SeedBlink, comments.
  • Thanks to the fresh fund, the founders plan to reach profitability in Q4 this year and €1 million in revenue in 2024. Bonapp.eco also plans to expand to Iași, Timișoara, and Brașov in the next 12 months.
