The Zhdanov family started making natural washcloths and sponges of loofah in 2019. The couple grows loofah in the picturesque village of Kairy, on the bank of the Kahovska’s reservoir in the Kherson region. This plant looks like a cucumber or a zucchini, and when dried, it serves as a convenient and ecological substitute for plastic sponges.

Volodymyr and Tetiana are from Kherson. They planted their first 50 “golden” loofah seeds on their parents' plot of land in the Kherson region. At first, the plant grew among the grapes, and when it showed a good harvest, it received a well-deserved separate plot, which, after the end of the war, the Zhdanovs will definitely expand.

The entrepreneurial activity of the Zhdanovs is closely related to public one. They participate in environmental actions and even launched environmental projects for safe disposal of organic waste and sorting of plastic in villages and cities of the Kherson region.

«Growing loofah for us is a matter that is closely connected with our way of thinking and that helps make the world around us a little cleaner and safer. Our brand name Family Loofa speaks for itself. This is our family business. Loofah sponges are for family use. By choosing loofah products, we protect our mother nature and planet Earth»

The Kherson region, where the Zhdanovs grew loofah, was occupied by the Russians immediately at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. All sales of loofah sponges and seeds have stopped. Even under the occupation, Volodymyr and Tetiana sowed the seeds, but they did not have time to collect them, because they left for a safer territory controlled by Ukraine.

The Zhdanovs believe in victory. They want to return home and continue to develop their company — with caring for the environment of our country.
