Finnish Carbo Culture receives $18M in Series A round for its carbon removal solutions

Helsinki-based Carbo Culture has received a $18 million investment to commercialise and deploy its carbon removal technology. The round was co-led by GenZero and True Ventures.

  • Established in 2017, Carbo Culture is a climate technology company building a rapidly scalable biochar carbon removal solution. The company takes waste biomass and transforms it using its reactors, permanently storing the carbon in an inert, solid form called biochar.
  • Biochar can be used in diverse agricultural and construction applications. In addition, this approach generates renewable energy, contributing to a more sustainable energy landscape.
  • The Series A funding round is co-led by Singapore-based decarbonisation-focused investment company GenZero and San Francisco-based venture capital firm True Ventures, with participation from Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd) and other climate tech investors and family offices.

“With this new funding, we are excited to accelerate our journey, expand our operations, and continue to innovate in the carbon removal space. We look forward to making greater strides towards a sustainable future and sharing our journey with all of you.”

the startup commented.
  • Carbo Culture will use the fresh investment to unlock its next stage of commercialisation and deployment and also to start developing commercial scale projects.
